The prospect that we may not be alone in the universe is taken as a fact by the movies, writers, and a great many scientists. As yet, we have no hard evidence of another living thing outside planet Earth. S.E.T.I. The Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence—is a show that explores all sides of this topic, from the planets we are finding around other stars, to the feasibility of travelling to the stars, and what aliens might actually be like, to the possibility that UFOs have been visiting and the various methods that scientists are using to get in touch. Will we make contact in our lifetimes? This stunning immersive show guides you through the myriad of ideas to a surprising conclusion.

“Totality” – “Totality” is a fascinating look at all the wonders of eclipses, especially total solar eclipses. An eclipse is described simply as when one celestial object blocks another from our view. This program, produced by Bays Mountain Planetarium, examines what eclipses are, how and when they occur, and what wonderful sights they create. We also look back to a fascinating period in scientific discovery when general relativity was proven with the photographic recording of a total solar eclipse.
Our production includes a variety of wonderful styles – from spectacular space environments to humorous pop-up books. A very special part of the show relates, in a very human way, what happens when you are caught in the shadow of the Moon and the Sun is plunged into a total solar eclipse. You will love this program.

Best described as “An adventurous tour of the Solar System,” this full-dome planetarium show program is a perfect mix of fantastic fun and tack-sharp content. This is the Solar System school show for your theater. Kids love it and adults do, too! This show is best for 3rd grade and above. The big surprise is that the audience thinks they are receiving a standard star-ID with the current sky and planets, but then you’re “interrupted” by a video phone call that leads to space-age adventure! A distinctive feature of this program is that it is fully interactive! The presenter converses with the main characters at key points to utilize the “theater” in your planetarium.

We learn how each of these rich cultures viewed the same stars, but had different stories and images. Told in first-person in the context of the teller’s life, we experience their ancient star lore and imagery.
This program is not only great for the general public, but is an incredible elementary school experience. This show is best for 2nd grade and above, but even younger ones will enjoy the storytelling imagery and theme. This is storytelling at its best. A wonderful blend of imagery, music, and word; it’s a treat for all.

On a clear, dark night, most of us, at one time or another, have gazed upon the stars and wondered about all those tiny points of light. Many of us are able to identify different patterns and constellations in the stars. But, what are those tiny points of light? This exciting program takes viewers beyond a simple observation of the night sky and delves into the fascinating lives of stars.
When we look up at the night sky, we can see that stars vary in brightness and have many different colors. The program reveals what is similar to all stars and what makes them unique. In “Discover the Stars,” we explore the many facets of a stars’ life. One of which is to venture deep into a giant molecular cloud to witness the birth of a new star. Stars also do not last forever. The program looks at the different ways that stars end their lives and the astronomical wonders that are left behind.
“Discover the Stars” will give viewers a deeper understanding and appreciation of the night sky. Great script, visuals and music (by internationally-known space-music artist Jonn Serrie) make this a wonderful show about stars for your public and school group audience.
The show is best for 4th grade and above.
This full-dome planetarium show has been produced in a number of ways permitting your facility to select the best format that fits your needs. The various versions are listed below:
1-Full-dome format that has a place to pause that allows a live presenter to lead an interactive presentation highlighting three key attributes of stars. Once playback restarts, the three key points are then displayed on the dome to allow the live presenter to review.
2-Full-dome format that plays the entire content without pausing and includes the narrator’s voice to present the three key attributes of stars.
3-Same as #1, but with no digital stars in certain sections to allow the use of your optical star projector.
4-Same as #2, but with no digital stars in certain sections to allow the use of your optical star projector.
“Discover the Stars” was produced by a group of very talented and experienced individuals here at Bays Mountain. Bays Mountain Productions is one of the very few planetarium theaters in the world that creates their own complex, professional-level full-dome shows and makes them available for world-wide distribution. Driven to forge excellence in the field, our main goal is to fulfill the needs of the planetarian. Our shows are educationally-driven, but chock full of fun and amazing graphics and music. Our pricing is also designed to be affordable since we understand the financial needs of the planetarian. We think you’ll be quite pleased with our content.

A truly immersive and breathtaking experience. This full-dome planetarium show was designed to illustrate the beauty and majesty of the natural outdoors, the night sky, the Solar System, and the universe. Combined with a wonderful soundtrack, it has brought forth the most amazing response from our audiences. All ages truly love this show. Excellent for 1st grade and above, but can easily be shown to K level.
Special Note: This program was designed to highlight many of our special capabilities in our theater. We have a Zeiss ZKP star projector and Zeiss Spacegate running on Powerdome which also uses Uniview. We have a fully programmable ECCS LED cove lighting system in addition. Therefore, at this time, your facility would need to be able to provide a similar capability to give the show. To run in your theater, you would need full-dome playback, the ability to program constellation lines, constellation outlines, text, project an optical star field, have multi-colored cove lighting and a license to use the AMNH database in a program akin to Uniview (this does not include the free database from AMNH for home/personal use).
As a special added feature, professionally-pressed CDs are available to sell in your gift shop of the outstanding soundtrack created and performed by Jason Dorfman.

We’re all a buzz about comets. And true to Bays Mountain fashion, we’ve created a unique full-dome show about comets. It is called “Comets & Discovery.” It is not dated in any way and will be usable for years.
The show is much more than a straight narrative about comets. The show takes the viewer on a journey of discovery. We follow two intrepid comet hunters in first-person. One, a modern explorer. The other, Caroline Herschel. The famous 18th century comet huntress that ruled the skies for many generations. With both, we learn how they each searched the skies, made their discoveries, and reported them for other astronomers to bear out. We also learn about, depending on the century of the observer, what people thought comets were and their importance to them. We make education fun. We use proper educational techniques for enhanced retention all in a fascinating, storytelling format. For our production, we are using green-screen technology, 3-D environments, and good ol’ fashioned still art. Together with a captivating script and sumptuous score, this is a great show for the whole family or school group 2nd grade and above.
We are also incorporating two live sequences to enhance the learning and fun. The first will be an activity to involve and engage the audience to learn more about the parts of a comet, the path a comet takes, and the dust and ion tails that splay out in their correct directions as the comet orbits the sun. The second sequence will use a facility’s star projection system and focus on any upcoming comets to see in the sky and how to view them. To see images of the completed models and to download the fully illustrated instruction documents, please select the “Activity Documents” tab above. Please note, there are a variety of comet-related activities one can do in their theater to enhance this show. The show is also designed to not need the activity at all if one desires.

A radio announcement… an excited phone call… and our sly gumshoe, Skye Watcher, is on the case. Explore with Skye and discover what happened to the ex-planet Pluto as she tracks down clues that stretch back hundreds of years! Audiences will have great fun with this unique program that looks into the changing status of planets in our Solar System.
The full-dome version of “The Case of the Disappearing Planet” features expanded and immersive visuals and an updated soundtrack. Follow the sly gumshoe, Skye Watcher, as she discovers what is a planet and what happened to Pluto. In her quest, she finds out that this has already happened 200 years ago with the discovery of the asteroids! Our super-sleuth discovers that science rules throughout this planet-status journey with the correct application of the scientific method. This show is great for school children of 3rd grade and above as well as the general public.

“Exploring New Horizons” is a full-dome planetarium show that explores the New Horizons spacecraft and its mission to dwarf planet Pluto and other KBOs. This program also exhibits the importance of the scientific method and how it applies to our understanding of the Solar System.
Starting from ancient times, learn about the history of planetary discovery, especially that of Pluto, and how it has led to an amazing mission to explore the Kuiper Belt. A basic overview of the whole Solar System is included.
Typical to the educational purpose of Bays Mountain Planetarium, this program includes a live section midway to engage your audience in an interactive activity to increase understanding and retention. The activity is a fun demonstration of the blink comparator that Clyde Tombaugh used to discover Pluto. The audience is asked to find Pluto shift among thousands of stars. Of course, to have some fun and to show how difficult it was to search for Pluto, a red herring is thrown in to make things a little difficult. But, that red herring is important. It illustrates other objects, those that were closer to us in our Solar System, that Tombaugh discovered along his quest.
The program is designed to not be dated and is a great way to introduce your audience to the NH mission. The final part of the program is designed for you, the planetarian, to cover the latest news and discoveries regarding NH, Pluto and other KBOs through a live recap.
“Exploring New Horizons” is a great way to educate about the Solar System and shows how important it is to continue learning. This presentation will make a wonderful addition to your public and school group programming.
The show is best for 3rd grade and above.

This is a fantastic full-dome show that looks into the rare and magnificent celestial apparition called a Venus transit. The show covers what a transit is, a famous transit viewing from the 18th century led by Captain Cook, and exciting information about the sun and Venus. There will also be a live component to the show that allows the audience to participate in two fun activities. This program is excellent for 3rd grade and above.
A Venus transit is when the planet Venus is seen passing in front of the sun. Why so special? Telescope technology in the 18th century allowed the first opportunity for astronomers to accurately determine the size of the Solar System. Another reason for being special is that these transits are rare. Two consecutive transits occur eight years apart. But, these pairs are separated by 105.5 and 121.5 years alternatively. The last two transits occurred in 2004 and 2012. Diehard optimists will just have to wait until 2117 for the next pair!
